(AP) The Oklahoma City Police Department has installed new Fourth of Jul. decorations at police stations around the city.
The department’s decorated precinct at 8th and East Sts.
near the Oklahoma City Convention Center has the word “police” painted on the side of the precinct.
There are also a few more places where the word is on display, including at the department’s downtown headquarters, a police substation and an off-duty department office.
“We want to show the community that we’re here for them,” said Sgt. Dave Eulenbaugh, a spokesman for the department.
Police departments across the nation have put up their own decorations on Fourth of Janurary.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been hosting a Fourth of the Republic celebration since 2009, with a large police contingent at every event.
The city’s new Fourth is scheduled for Thursday night at 6 p.m. CST.
